The discovery of a new species of human in 2004 on an Indonesian island - dubbed the 'Hobbit - was hailed as one of the most sensational finds of modern times. Yet this recent recognition of two, early, co-existent species merely serves to confirm what Chapter 3 of God, Science and the Cosmic Jigsaw describes. This tells how, in Genesis, the Bible actually describes two parallel races that interbred: resulting in 'giants in those times'. Certainly anything bigger than the 4-foot tall Homo florensiensis species would seem tall. And descendants still exist on Flores Island, living remotely, barely a mile away from where the ancient skeleton that caused all the stir was discovered in a cave. They had a very different brain and were very clever in the way they lived and survived.

Even more remarkable are these facts. These little people are very small and many are aged, such as Mr. Dak, less than 4-foot tall, aged 100 - like the people of old, described in Genesis. Also, these remote people have a legend that has not been flavoured by modern races, about a mini ancestor called Noe who escaped from a great flood in a crude canoe.

Scientists are open to the fact that Hobbits existed on Flores at the same time as Homo sapiens and that they could have interbred with ordinary humans. This recent information only serves to confirm the theory expounded in the book that God influenced the 'evolutionary development' of modern Man by means of a divinely created race living alongside a naturally evolving race; contrary to His plan, they interbred, as Genesis clearly states.
