GOD, SCIENCE and the COSMIC JIGSAW
by Jonathan Kingsley
Book Home Reader Reviews & Letters

Your book has opened a new awareness in my mind, something that I've always known has existed, but perhaps put into a place far behind, and only touching the surface every now and then. To have a better understanding is to have obtained true knowledge, and what better source: God. I've always felt the presence of God, but not knowing exactly where to look or how to acquire him, and all I needed was to look inside myself. Funny! How simple this is, really, but how dreadfully hard it can be in this day and age...

I've felt God so much in me at times and I am the type of person who actually talks to God in my mind, telling him of my worries and troubles, but also never forgetting to thank him for everything that I have. I never knew that I was really having communication with him. Thank you for reminding me of this, and that God/Jesus is my Father, and he will continue to guide me. Your book has been a true inspiration. Amazing! It brought my faith to a higher understanding of what's expected of me and what I can expect from God/Jesus.

Reading Kingsley's book is a bit like reading a good thriller. Every chapter entertains and brings you new clues and hints of fresh mysteries to come. There is even a final dénouement chapter to clarify the 'big picture' in which little differences like evolution and divine creation become merely sub-plots. Yet the remarkable thing is we are talking about the mysteries of God and the universe here, not a fictional plot. The author has an easy-to-read style and constantly offers excellent analogies to make even the most mind-boggling aspects easy to grasp. Throughout it all runs a fine golden thread I would call faith. Seeing that thread has made my own faith even stronger because it now seems grounded in logic. Most authors of metaphysics leave you feeling like you've been dragged through dark rooms full of cobwebs, hitting your head on every doorway, but Kingsley leaves you with the feeling your mind has just been spring-cleaned and you come out of it brigher-eyed any bushy-tailed! A great read and a fantastic adventure into creation and the mind.

As a Christian I was suspicious this book would demand I abandon long-held beliefs in order to accept the findings of modern science or require me to believe we are descended from apes, yet it didn't do either. I also imagined it would be so deep that I might have to put it aside after a few pages for I am not one for anything too theoretical. But there was no way I could put aside such fascinating material as this… The degree to which this author supports Christian principles is surprising, given that he also manages to provide logical arguments that science need not be at odds with the Bible and that evolution was merely the beginning phase of God's creation before he took a more direct hand… It is fascinating how he shows us what we have read so many times before in Genesis and then reveals its hidden meanings! All so logical, too. In some ways he is more conventional than certain church leaders who would have us disregard important parts of the Bible. I found this book very helpful in that it has removed the uneasy feeling I had when trying to accept both modern science and the Bible, and in a way I never imagined possible… A most enjoyable and informative book. I found it both inspiring and inspired and it will always take pride of place on my bookshelf. Highly recommended for Christians and agnostics alike.

How often is a work on metaphysics even mildly comprehensible? Yet this author has managed to write a completely understandable, readable and logical work. It systematically demolishes the normal conflicts between science and religion. It could be called 'Metaphysics for Dummies', but this is far more than a simplification of thinking that has gone before. This is highly original and convincing stuff. Although put over in a light and friendly way, to my mind it offers up important new theories that demand further investigation and serious thought and is a valuable contribution to the science versus religion debate. If you've read Peacocke and Barbour you must also read this. These are times when many people are looking for something deeper in life. Here you have it!

The book helped complete a large part of a jigsaw that I could not fully complete. It was stimulating to read and helped to strengthen my faith.

Solves some of the "conflicts" between God and Science.
