FREE — or low-cost — travel pictures for your website!
Synergise are pleased to offer well over a one-hundred travel pictures
that private individuals can use for free on their websites. Even commercial
websites can use reasonable numbers of them for free. All we ask is
that you read the following information very carefully to ensure you
do not break our terms and conditions and thereby infringe someone's
copyright.
By no means all of the pictures on this
website can be legally reproduced, therefore it is essential you understand
how to determine which can, and what our requirements are if you do
so. You need to read this entire page
to be fully aware of these requirements. A misunderstanding could lead
you to accidentaly commit an offence by infringing copyright.
Terms & Conditions
Although the following is phrased is readable language,
it represents the Terms and Conditions
on which we make images available. Any infringement of this may be subject
to legal action.
Do not use our pictures unless you full understand our
terms and conditions and have the skills to carry out our requirements
without further guidance.
Which pictures you may use
You can only use CERTAIN PICTURES from
within the Ed's Travels section of this website.
You CANNOT use pictures from anywhere else on this website.
This page reproduces the side menu used on the pages of Ed's Travels
in order to provide you with easy access to all the pages that contain
the available pictures. But you CANNOT use ALL of the pictures within
this section - just MOST of them!
The pictures you CAN use within Ed's Travels are THOSE THAT OFFER A
'CLICK-TO-ENLARGE' FACILITY. When you hover your mouse over these pictures
the cursor usually changes to a hand and, when you click, this opens
a larger image in another browser window. You may copy this larger image
OR the thumbnail image you clicked, subject to our following Terms and
Conditions. You MUST NOT use any other pictures from this website and
you MUST NOT use any of the smaller in-text thumbnail images UNLESS
it is clickable to a larger version.
How you may use the available pictures
You MUST NOT link to the picture from your website. Instead, you MUST
TAKE A COPY of the image to save on your own website and use the image
from there. (Backlinks will tells us if anyone is using them on our
website, and this affects our bandwidth and is against the terms and
conditions of use.)
You MAY REDUCE the size of any image PROVIDING you maintain the aspect
ratio (ie reduce both height and width by the same amount to prevent
distortion).
You MAY CROP the image.
You MUST NOT COMPRESS the image (thereby reducing its quality).
You MOST NOT ENLARGE the image (thereby reducing its quality).
You MAY change the name of the image file.
You MUST NOT change the image in any way other than as permitted above.
YOU MUST include the appropriate copyright information within the ALT
tag of the image, as detailed below. [more]
YOU MUST include the appropriate links to the correct pages of our
website on your own website, as detailed below. You MUST NOT include
more links than specified below.
YOU MUST make the appropriate payment IF this is liable. (This only
applies to significant usage or where you would prefer to make a payment
rather than include the required links.)
YOU MUST NOT SELL OR MAKE AVAILABLE an image from the Synergise website
or use it in any medium other than your own website.
If you use Synergise images in more than one website these terms and
conditions apply as if for separate websites.
YOU MAY NOT use these images on any website that might be considered
to be a 'link farm' (ie a site with the main aim of obtaining or exchanging
links), or which contains anything which might be judged to include:
profanity, hate, violence, racial or religious intolerance, reference
to illicit drugs or their association, pornography, adult or mature
information, explicit sexual references, or anything promoting illegal
activities or infringes the legal rights of others.
You MAY NOT use any of our images on an intranet or on Internet website
pages that require password access to be viewed. They can only be used
on websites that are freely available to anyone via the Internet (ie
in the public domain).
You MAY NOT copy any of our article text without prior agreement.
What you must do in return for using these pictures
Moderate use of available pictures is free, whether you have a personal
or commercial website. However, more extensive usage or particular types
of usage by commercial sites is subject to a charge. Another factor
that affects our terms and conditions is what kind of website you wish
to use them on. Some sites will be unsuitable.
All sites that use our images MUST inform us within 3 days of making
our images available for use in the Internet and remove them within
7 days on our request if we consider their usage or the site on which
they are used unsuitable or if they do not meet all the requirements
of our terms and conditions.
Images are made available providing the appropriate acknowledgement
links as detailed below are published or alternative payment is made
where available as an option.
The following codes are used to describe the link or payment requirements

How you must implement links
Home
Page Link [HPL] or Ranked Page Link [RPL]
The [HPL] should be from the using site's
home page, or the [RPL] from a Google ranked
page. These links should point to the Synergise.com home page (http://www.synergise.com/)
and contain the following text:
This site
contains free travel pictures from Synergise.com
Using
Page Link [UPL]
The [UPL] MUST have the link pointing
to the Synergise Free Pics page, which is THIS PAGE (http://www.synergise.com/travel/Homepage/free-pictures.php)
and contain the following text:
This
page uses free travel pictures from Synergise.com
2nd-Tier
Ranked Page Link [2RPL]
The [2RPL] MUST be from a using site's
2nd-tier pages (ie a page reached directly from the using site's home
page), which MUST have Google page ranking (ie be a significant page).
The link MUST point to the Synergise home page and contain the following
text:
This site
contains free travel pictures from Synergise.com
Intelligent
Page Linking [IPL] - required by commercial travel sites
Commercial travel sites are required to implement a more intelligent
form of linking to the Synergise site. What we require is a single link
from each page that uses one or more of our pictures, with that link
pointing to the actual Synergise page on which one of the using pictures
appears. This should be done in an intelligent way in order to ensure
that each supplying Synergise page is linked from one of the using site's
pages.
You can do this either with a single page link as follows:
This page
contains free travel pictures from Synergise.com
linked to the appropriate page from Ed's Travels, OR from one of
the picture copyright statements (shown below).
 |
Picture © Synergise.com |
Where you use Synergise pictures on the same page as other pictures
not from Synergise it must be clear which are Synergise pictures. Clarify
this by putting the phrase 'Picture © Synergise.com' beneath the
picture as shown to the right. If the picture is required to be in-text,
as in this example, an easy way to achieve this is with a 1-column,
2-row table, as we have done here. Just copy this paragraph code and
then edit it to your own requirements. (Change the table ALIGN statement
to "LEFT" to put the picture on the left-hand side of the
paragraph.) Provided you have a link elsewhere on the page, the text
should be left unlinked.
If you wish to use the text beneath the picture as your link to the
appropriate Synergise page, do so as shown in the example to the left.
This also depicts a table with "LEFT" alignment. The code
used here will allow the table to expand to any size of picture.
How you must
implement the picture ALT text
Every Synergise image must contain the following text WITHIN its 'ALT'
tag:
"{country | city | location} picture © Synergise.com"
... where the section in curley-brackets is replaced by the appropriate
text
For example, it might contain:
"Paris picture © Synergise.com"
How you must notify us of your picture usage
Once all your images have been published you MUST contact us within
7 days of publishing the first image, even if you have not completed
the work and intend to use more images. Just explain your intentions.
If you have a commercial website and use under 6 images we MUST be
told the pages on which these appear. If you use more than 6 images,
tell us how many you are going to use and provide the URLs of at least
5 example pages.
If you use any images for advertising purposes you MUST tell us about
each one and the URL of its location. A payment is always due where
advertising is concerned.
Where
a payment is due
Where any payment is due we will invoice you for the appropriate payment
after you notify us of your usage. By using any or our images you do
so on the UNDERSTANDING that any payment due will be paid within 7 days
of the requesting date. Failure to do so breaks this agreement and thereby
infringes our copyright.
You can pay by any of the following credit/debit cards or by PayPal
money transfer:
