ATTRACTIONS — USA:
Georgia Aquarium — Atlanta
The Georgia Aquarium is proud to be the largest aquarium in the world
and provides a fascinating, amusing and educational adventure that is
suitable for the whole family. The Georgia Aquarium was introduced to
the public in November 2005 and today is a major attraction for visitors
to the Atlanta area.
Range of Underwater Life at the Georgia Aquarium
In a way, it is difficult to refer to the living creatures at the Georgia
Aquarium as exhibits, as this sample of underwater life includes an incredible
range of marine life to delight its visitors. The different sectors of
the underwater world are separated into different exhibits such as cold
water, rivers, and ocean. Just to mention a few members of the creatures
featured, visitors will encounter turtles, whales, sharks, crabs, piranha,
otters, jellyfish and sea horses on their journey through the aquarium
and the various exhibits including delights like touch pools, a coral
reef and a special kid's corner.
Special Features
One of the more unusual attractions at the Georgia Aquarium is the shark
tank. Here, in addition to being able to view these incredible creatures,
visitors with a certificate of SCUBA diving training may even dive with
the sharks. Those who are not divers, or who prefer to remain dry, may
view this impressive exhibit as they walk through an acrylic tunnel enabling
visitors to feel almost as if they are inside this huge tank with over
6 million gallons of water. A massive range of different types of fish
is presented in this massive exhibit including sharks, stingrays and a
manta ray fondly named Nandi.
The Georgia Aquarium 4D Theater presents a fascinating experience with
special effects for its audience. This involves a 3D film together with
additional sensory effects in order to present a unique and exciting manner
for participants to see and experience the underwater inhabitants and
their lives.
It is interesting to note that in 2010, the Georgia Aquarium is planning
to introduce the additional attraction of dolphins to water world.
Location
The Georgia Aquarium is located in downtown Atlanta and is easily accessible
via public transportation. Visitors to the Georgia Aquarium are welcome
365 days a year, but it should be noted that opening times do vary at
different times of the year. It is recommended to make reservations in
advance and tickets may be purchased online.
The Georgia Aquarium is an exciting and interesting location and a great
attraction for travellers to Atlanta.
